Niamh & Jamie's Wedding

Wedding Photographer Ballykealy House in Ballon, County Carlow, Ireland

At the truly magical wedding venue of Ballykealy House in Ballon, we had the pleasure of attending a special wedding as photographers. 
The venue features 15 spacious lodges that provide comfortable accommodations for guests and a beautifully decorated barn where the ceremony took place. Fortunately, the weather was favorable, allowing for an outdoor ceremony in their lovely garden; however, the celebration was held in the barn at the couple’s request. 

Our day began early: Niamh, the bride, was getting ready in one of the lodges with her wonderful bridesmaids and maid of honor. Directly across, Jamie, the groom, awaited us with their two-year-old son, Feile, who was already a little heartthrob, smiling brightly for the camera. The lodges were conveniently located next to each other, making everything easily accessible. Niamh dressed in the main building, assisted by her mother, and from there we walked to the ceremony location, which was just a 2-3 minute stroll behind the main house.

The ceremony was exceptional and spiritual, with breathtaking decorations. At the end of the ceremony, we captured the group photo in front of the fountain behind the house, a lasting memory of the day. Following this, we took creative wedding photos of the couple in the beautiful garden while the guests enjoyed the wedding reception. During this time, everyone mingled joyfully, savoring delicious pastries and drinks. 

Jamie, the groom, delivered a heartfelt speech before dinner, thanking the guests for coming, the groomsmen for their support, the parents for their guidance, and last but not least, expressing his love and gratitude to Niamh. He also presented flowers to the parents, which was a touching moment. Dinner began with the couple’s grand entrance, and afterward, they cut the wedding cake. This was followed by the wedding party, where a DJ entertained the guests. 

As photographers, we were present throughout the day and successfully captured this occasion for them. Overall, we experienced a lovely and memorable wedding. We especially want to highlight the wonderful atmosphere of the venue and the attention the couple received. The staff continuously checked in to see if they needed anything, and we never felt anything was lacking. It’s a fantastic venue, and we can’t wait to be a part of another wedding there soon!
